How to update a Parrot CK3100 using a programming cable
Why do you need to update the Parrot CK3100 ?
There are a few reasons to update:
- To cure bugs in early firmware versions
- To enhance phone connection reliability
- To reset the CK3100 back to “factory settings”
- To cure “dead unit” where the CK3100 will not power up
- To cure odd characters when navigating the menus
How do you update the CK3100 ?
You will need the Parrot Update Tool software, update file and the USB update cable.
The update can be performed in 2 ways: Update over Bluetooth or update by USB update cable with a Windows PC and Win 7 / 8/ 8.1 or 10 with 64 bit operating system only. This description covers the re-programming by cable method only.
We can also update the CK3100 if you send the control box to us and will return by post.
USB cable update
USB update cable available here:
The control box must be powered during the update process. Initially, do not plug the power lead into the control box.
Plug the USB cable into PC / Laptop and install the drivers (would normally happen automatically). When the drivers have installed you need to check which COM port has been assigned. Open device manager and then select COM ports and note the COM port number assigned to the USB update cable.
Plug the USB update cable into the CK3100 control box and then into the PC / Laptop. The CK3100 will not power up during update process – this is normal.
Apply power to the Ck3100 control box on permanent 12V AND ignition 12V inputs.Start the Parrot Update Tool programme on your PC.
Follow the on screen instructions and remember to select the correct COM port. See photos below. When programming using the update cable .bin file extension update file is used.

Hi I recently purchased a replacement display unit ck3100 because the last one screen went and wouldn’t work this morning I installed the new display unit but now there seems to be no response or power up the display is blank
When you turn the ignition on do you get a series of chirps from the CK3100 ?
And does it still connect to your phone by Bluetooth (even though display does not work.
Bluetooth connection successfully established – but update does not work:
“An error occurred during the flashing progress. Please try again.”
look here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJfD50LS9Kk&t=91s
There are people facing the same problem but no solution so far. What I tried:
– different laptops
– different bluetooth drivers
– bluetooth serial connection
Any suggestions?
Hello Gregor,
Have done the Bluetooth update many times and use an Acer laptop with Windows 10 64 bit on it. Have in the past used Windows 7 and XP.
From your video the Bluetooth connection is dropping out.
From past experience avoid Toshiba and Dell Bluetooth stack – the standard Microsoft one is fine.
Make sure you are uploading the .ulp file version
Remove power from control box for 30 secs and then power it up again.
Try a different baud rate on the com port settings: 115200 or 234000
If all this does not solve the issue, we can re-programme it for you at a modest cost (by mail)
Apart from that cannot really offer any more info
Thank you for your suggestion. Microsoft BT drivers are installed. I am glad that Windows 7 oder 10 can be excluded as part of the problem. Maybe the .ulp is damaged. Where can I find different versions of the .ulp so I can test the update with it?
We just use an update cable to perform the update.
Have archived versions on an old pc, but too short of time to search for them at the moment
Disconnected the cars battery for about a minute, tried different baud rates and made sure that only microsoft drivers are installed for bluetooth. Same problem. Updating with a serial cable is no option because taking the bluebox out is really hard work on this car. If I have to remove the panel I would probably go for a new radio with handsfree included.
Any suggestion about where I can download different versions of the .ulp and the installation software?
Sorry, have no more suggestions.
Have updated many CK3100’s using both methods. If it will not take the Bluetooth update then the only alternative is to use an update cable.
Hello. I do have the Parrot CK3100 and I was wondering if there is any update etc which enables it to play music over bluetooth. I know this version only supports calls however I was wondering if there is a mod which enables music streaming?
Kind regards
Omar
Morning Omar,
The CK3100 is based on the Parrot 4 chipset and did not have the option for music over Bluetooth. It is not a feature of the chipset.
It will not be possible to add the music streaming option. The CK3100 is only handsfree capable.
The Parrot MK/MKi series kits were introduced to add this feature and are based on the Parrot 5 chipset.
Non riesco ad accoppiare il mio iPhone 7 con parrot 3100. Ha funzionato con huawei. Come è possibile?

Ben kullanıyorum çok memnunum şimdi samsung a70 bağlanıyor ama rehber senkronizasyon etmiyor neden acaba otomatik bağlanma yapıyor ama rehberi kayıt etmiyor
Sorry, can only reply in english, french, german, italian or spanish
It is possible that the Samsung A70 does not have phonebook syncronisation enabled.
Go into Bluetooth settings on the Samsung A70 and select the Parrot.
Click on the settings cog and check that phonebook sync is enabled.
Turn off the Parrot and then back on again to force phone book sync. If that does not work you could “share” the contacts over Bluetooth from the A70
