Single DIN Double DIN – What does this mean ?
Single DIN and Double DIN are commonly used to describe stereos – but what exactly does this mean ?
Quite simply it is used to describe the height of the stereo. DIN is an internationally recognised format.
Single DIN units are generally units without a touch screen, whereas double DIN units are twice the height and can have colour touchscreens. Some car manufacturers complicate things by having units that are 1.5 DIN format – notably Ford.
