IOS 10, 11 and 12 Bluetooth Issues with Parrot MKi9000 MKi9100 MKi9200
With the recent launch of ios 10, 11 and 12 a few users are reporting an issue where the iphone would work correctly with the Parrot MKi9000 / MKi9100 and MKi9200 when using ios 9, but since the upgrade to ios 10, 11 or 12 the phone connects / disconnects / connects / disconnects.
Android and Windows users are not affected
Apple iOS users are recommended to do the following – revert to IOS 9 ( if only, as this would cure the issue – sadly Apple do not allow this…)
As an alternative solution please try the following:
STAGE 1. Reset the Parrot MKi9000/ MKi9100 and MKI9200.
For the MKi9000 do the following:
Turn on ignition and wait approx 30 seconds for the kit to turn on. Press and hold for 2 to 3 seconds the RED and GREEN buttons on the remote at the SAME TIME. You will hear “Memory Erasing in Progress”, after which the MKi9000 will re-boot. After it has powered up again, press the centre button to select English (or other language by rotating jog wheel) as the required language. It will then re-boot once more. Proceed to Stage 2.
For the MKi9100 and MKi9200 do the following:
Turn on ignition and wait approx 30 seconds for the kit to turn on. When the kit has gone to the home screen press centre button and rotate to Settings. Click on button to enter Settings then go down to Advanced and select “Factory Reset”. Press Green button to confirm. The MKi9100 / MKI9200 will then delete all paired devices and re-boot.
After it turns on again you will need to set ring volume ( Settings / Ring Volume) and on the MKi9200 you will need to reset “Sound Stage” Audio effects > Sound stage > Settings > Centre (is recommended by JustCarKits)
Stage 2.
Delete all Bluetooth devices on the iPhone – Settings \ Bluetooth \ Phone X, ” Forget this phone “, then confirm. Do this for all paired devices.
Re-configure the iPhone
1. Go into Settings / General / Reset Settings / Reset Network
!! Make sure you only delete the Network settings !!
– please note this will delete any paired Bluetooth Devices AND WiFi connections, so make sure you know the WiFi passwords.
2. Go into Settings / General / Accessibility and set Call Routing to Bluetooth Headset
3. Would also recommend re-starting the iPhone (hold top and bottom centre button until Apple logo is displayed).
After re-start, go into Settings / Bluetooth and search for the handsfree kit (MKi9000 / MKi9100 / MKi9200) and then pair again. Pass code is 0000.

Hey, I have a problem with my MKi9000… it was all good until a few days ago when I’ve started the car and the Parrot restarted itself after pairing with my phone. Now everytime they pair, my Parrot is restarting, if I close my Bluetooth and the Parrot doesn’t pair with a phone, it stays open. I don’t have own an iphone, my phone is a samsung s22 ultra. I’ve tried looking on the internet for this problem but I can’t find nothing
Hello Andrei,
Sounds like a phone book sync issue.
To test disable phone book transfer in your phone’s Bluetooth settings. If that allows the phone to stay connected troubleshoot corrupted phone book entry (odd characters, accented letters).
Hi I have this current problem but could you explain the steps a bit more clearer?
Morning Said,
Sorry, this is such an old thread regarding iPhone Bluetooth issues there is no more information. Every time Apple did an update it broke something.
Parrot stopped producing the product several years ago. Compatibility testing has not been done for many years.
Help please I have an iPhone 14 pro max and it won’t connect to Mki9200. My daughter has same phone n hers connects fine I have tried rebooting my phone doing the setting and completely wiping it n. Still it won’t pair properly. Once I turn the car off the pairing is no longer and no music ever plays.
As long as the MKi9220 shuts down correctly by showing “Good Bye” then it would point to a specific issue with your iPhone 14.
It is worth checking the software version in the MKi9200 ( Settings / Information). If it’s on version 2.11, 2.20 or V3.xx then the latest software is already installed and there are no further updates. NEVER update a version 3 unit with older firmware – it will destroy it.
The software on the parrot is running 1.72. I’m literally at my wits end I’ve looked at so many iPhone sites I’ve reset the setting on my iPhone I’ve even factory reset but just won’t stay paired or play any songs yet my daughter 14 pro max same as mine connects n works perfectly.
Hello James,
Would recommend updating the Mki9200 to V2.11 or V2.20 version. You will need to update to V1.96 first.
V1.72 was quite “buggy”
See these links:
https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/product/parrot-mki9200-v1-96-english-only/
https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/product/parrot-mki9200-update-file-v2-11-english/
https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/product/parrot-mki9200-update-file-v2-2-uk/
The update files are free
You may still find that your iPhone still mis-behaves as Apple have the annoying habit of using different chipsets on the same phone – just because the outside looks the same does not mean it has the same internal components.
Would still recommend updating the Parrot software as this will at least move things forward. V2.11 and V2.20 are pretty similar – probably use V2.20 with an iPhone. Either is fine for Android phone
Also my parrot does say goodbye when turning ignition off.
This is how it should shut down and is correct.
If the updates fail to cure the issue it will be an issue with the Bluetooth chipset in your iPhone – have seen it before. Customers got around it by returning the iPhone for a different version.
Hi sorry whenever i click the email and it sys sorry you have reached your download limit for this file go to shop ?
Hello James,
Was an error on the website – thank you for pointing it out. The links (for all downloads) were out of date as the files had been moved.
Should now all be downloadable. Have re-enabled the downloads on the existing orders so you don’t have to re-submit them.
Regards,
Philip
Can I pass on v1.96 and go straight to v2.11 as I can’t seem to find v1.96 and says out of stock on your site.
V1.96 back “in stock”
You must update with V1.96 first
Now says sorry you have reached your download limit lol sorry about this.
Have amended O/Nos. 21853 & 21855 to allow extra downloads. Have deleted the other orders as was getting messy.
Have checked the links work – check “downloads” folder in Windows (browsers can be set for different folder path, so check configuration if needed).
Best to download on a PC and you will need to un-zip and re-name files.
Hi just one last question do I unzip the folder just because all I’m getting is waiting for update on the parrot and it does nothing else. I can press the red hang up button and it comes out of it so the screen is still working ok. Thanks again for all the help.
https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/blog/2018/12/05/parrot-mki9200-firmware-update-how-to/
Hi
I have a Mki9100. It worked perfectly with mij other phones. Now I have a iPhone 13 and it won’t work. It is paired but music won’t play. Phone calls do work. Mute on steaming is enabled. Deleted the device, back to factory reset. Nothing works. What can I do.
Hello,
There are no other settings on the MKi9100 apart from “mute on streaming” (which should be ticked).
It would appear to be an iPhone issue.
The only other thing to check is that the firmware version of the MKi9100 is either V2.11 or V2.20 (version 1 & 2 control boxes only).
NEVER update a version 3 control box.
The same for me, with iPhoneXS ios15. Only calls work.
Hello Stef,
As per previous comments please check Settings / Audio / “Mute on Streaming” option on the Parrot. It should be enabled (ticked)
I have an MKI9100 and, if I have an USB stick connected while the car is powered off, it will start playing it as soon as I start the car.
Is it possible to disable this and let me choose if I want to start the USB manually?
Before turning off the vehicle press the pause button on the Parrot remote.
Before turning the car off press “pause” on the Parrot remote to stop the USB stick playing.
This should stop it playing immediately after the ignition is turned on again.
You will need to do this every time before you turn ignition off (if using USB stick)
Thanks for the response!
You’re right, no AUX so it’s wired through the CD changer. I did it 6 years ago so can’t remember the details 🙂 “Mute on streaming”! I’ll give that a shot.
Good to know about the soldering fix for the Mic…. I’ll see if I can get my original box fixed.
Thanks again for your help.
Came up with the CD fix for Aux about 15 years ago for a particular issue.
Quite used to SMD soldering down to 0603’s and 0.3mm pitch. The mic connector is a lot larger and easier to solder.
Yep, I did a reset. SW_3.1 not 3.2 btw… my mistake. So on further checking any audio from Bluetooth is getting passed through in Phone mode also… e.g. direct to speakers and not to Head-Unit. I’ll check wiring harnesses again just incase something is loose.
Would have been easier to repair the mic connection – just needs re-soldering to PCB. It is a surface mount part and have done it on many Parrot control boxes – a common issue.
As far as know there is no Aux input on an ’02 XKR, though there was a workaround involving the external 6CD changer. If it is wired to use this method you will need to de-activate “mute on streaming” in the MKi9200 Audio Settings.
Version 3 software differences are only to cope with board and component amendments. The operating software did not change and for this reason there are no updates for a V3 control box.
Hey JustCarKits!
This is an odd one. I replaced the Mki9200 BlueBox as the mic connection went on the old one. It’s SW_3.2. Bluetooth works fine. iPhone 8. The USB also charges the phone too. All good except for couple of behaviour changes.
On my original box I was able to play audio via the Lightening to USB. So if Audio was playing and the cable was plugged in the phone would automatically default to the lightening connection for audio and the Parrot would switch to pass through the audio signal to the sound system. Bluebox seemed to be able to manage calls and audio playback seamlessly….This isn’t happening with this box. I can hear a click where it switches to something other than the bluetooth circuit, but no sound. I have to force audio to playback via bluetooth on the phone.
This may be related also…. previously when audio was playing via bluetooth or the Lightening to USB connection my audio system would switch to an AUX in, simply passing through the audio to the head-unit. Now, when playing audio via bluetooth the head unit stays on “Phone” as input.
The car is a ’02 Jaguar XKR and I wired the Parrot up myself. As stated above, it worked with the old BlueBox SW_3.x fine.
You guys might have some insight that could help?
Thanks in Advance!
Version 3 control boxes support phone connection via USB. It should not be an issue with a lightning cable.
Did you delete all the old paired devices from the replacement control box ?
Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this but I had an issue with a MKI9200 V3 blue box where the Mic stopped working. Everything else worked fine. Tried a new Mic still no sound so I got another Blue box. This one was a bit older V2 with V 2.11 firmware on it. I just connected it up to the existing cables and did a factory reset and all good except for one issue.
For some reason it won’t give power to my iPhone via an iPhone USB cable plugged into the Parrot USB cable. This has worked on the V 3 box fine and I would get music playing via usb cable etc. (better sound).
When I plug the lightening cable into phone it says charging for about half a second then nothing. I have tried different iPhones (a 5s and a 6) with same issue. I tested the USB connection with other non apple devices to make sure there was power and it seems there is. It will also read a USB stick fine. I also tried the USB cable that came with the older V2 box (one with iPhone adapter on it) and still no change,
Wondering if you guys have come across this before and might have some suggestions?
Cheers
Grif
Hello Grif,
You have come across the difference between a version 2 control box and the version 3.
Version 2: iPod lead, USB, Aux. USB is rated @500mA
Version 3: USB, Aux. USB is rated @ 1.5A
Version 2 control box requires that you use the iPod lead for an iPhone, iPod, USB stick or Android (for charging). Apple products are not compatible with the USB connector
Version 3 lets you use the USB connector with Apple / Android or USB stick
The control boxes have hardware differences between V2 and V3 and cannot be converted.
Ugh, I was afraid of that! Thanks very much for your response. At least stops wasting maytime trying a million things! I guess I’m on the market for another box 🙂
I have the mki9100 and now when I pause music (Spotify from iphone8 ios13.7). It won’t replay when I press play. I have to go to Bluetooth audio and select by phone to resume playing. This is a bug. I have tried resetting parrot and removed pairing/repaired but no different.
Any suggestions (on v1.71 parrot s/w) ?
I think it may be related to the dual control I have over audio since I also wear a Fitbit ionic which can also control Spotify on the phone. I am pretty sure it did run ok a few months ago though.
Hello,
How many paired devices are in the MKI9100 ?
Have you set your phone the the “preferred” phone ?
Regards,
Philip
Have MKi9100 installed in my car. Will the MKi9200 screen work with the 9100 wiring and control box?
The MKi9200 screen will not work on an MKi9100 control box.
you would need to replace the control box, display cable and screen.
The mic, wiring harness and ipod/usb lead stays the same ( unless it is a MK3 control box, where the ipod connector is deleted).
Hi Phil,
First things first, amazing article! I will try the method above at my earliest convenience. In case it doesn’t work out – my issue with the mki9100 is as soon as we are on a road full of rubble etc, it disconnects from the car and the stereo switches back to the radio/cd. (ford territory, 2005, ghia, rwd)
that makes spotify pause playing as well.
the issue is, i purchased the car second hand and i would be happy to just chuck the kit out and move on. yet since it is installed inside, i can’t even do that. (lol)
let me know your thoughts.
cheers!
Hello Matthew,
On the MKi9100 there is a known issue with the display connector tolerances.
If you have this problem the kit will turn off and then re-boot if the display is moved slightly (it will feel loose in the holder).
To resolve you need to heat treat the back of the display (gently otherwise will wreck it) and bend the plastic in about 1 to 2mm only. Then let it cool. Do NOT overheat it as the plastic will melt….
This will stop the display moving and it will then make a solid contact.
is it common for a clicking noise to come from the blue box
The MKi control boxes have relays to switch the speaker outputs. This is nothing to worry about unless it is constant.
Hi I have an issue with my MKi9200, when I put the ignition on the screen powers up ans displays the logo but before it could even go into the home screen, it restarts and repeats the cycle. I can’t access the menu. What should I do?
Hello Rajen,
If the Mki9200 is stuck in boot loop the control box will need to be replaced.
Before doing this you should check that the permanent 12V and Ground is correct and that the ignition switched 12V line is stable with the ignition on.
I have the same problem with my parrot mki9200 i starts upp i choise language and it restarts all the time. Is a excange of the blue control box the only thing to do?
Hello Raffe,
If the MKi9200 starts up and does not accept the language selection and goes into re-boot again, you will have a faulty MKi9200 control box.
It will need to be replaced.

Hi I have just got a new car which has the MKi9200 installed- I have tried every option to delete the already paired phones but non of them are working. Is there anything else I can try?
Please have a look at this link – reset an MKi9200
Hi, i got the Parrot MKI9200 and it’s been working fine with my iPhone 7 IOS13.3.1 but now, when i connect my phone n play a song, it shows that it’s playing but no sound comes out, however, if someone was to call, it would work normally
Thank you
Hello Eizaan,
on the MKi9200 go into Settings / Audio and check that the “Mute on Streaming” option is enabled (ticked)
Regards
Philip
My Parrot ski 9000 was working fine with my iPhone 4s (iOS 9.x.x). Since last month I’m using an iPhone 6 with the newest iOS (12.4.5). My Parrot mki9000 (v.3) plays music from the iPhone over the car speakers but it’s silent on phone calls. Dialing over the remote or over voice control works fine too but I only hear a “click” from the blue box. The Parrot microphone is working too on calls but speakers are not – silence. I reset the Parrot and I paired the devices after like it’s written in the first post. There is still no sound. What to do?
Hello Mathias,
Have you tried a different phone with the MKi9000 ?
Regards,
Philip
Hi Philip
Yes, with my old iPhone 4s it’s still working when I pair this instead of the iPhone6
This would point to a software issue on the Iphone
Pretty sure ios software is now on version 13 though they keep breaking that version as well
What version of firmware is in the MKi9000 ?
iOS 12.4.5 is the newest available version for iPhone6
MKi9000-Firmware is v3.0.0. The iPhone6 can only be upgraded to iOS 12.4.5, iOS 13 you get with iPhone6s or newer.
The only other suggestion is to try a special pairing mode on the MKi9000 in the settings menu and see if this cures the iPhones’s issue.
Failing that it’s up to Apple to cure their bug.
I have had a Parrot MKi9000 in my car for 5 years. On Thursday it decided to no longer allow me to make calls. I have changed the battery and infect broke the battery holder, so have purchased a new remote control unit. If is all paired. I still cannot use the remote to make calls. Any ideas?
Hello Emma,
Have you changed phone recently ? If so, what model do you have ?
It is also possible to disable phonebook sync in the phone Bluetooth settings
Has the MKi9000 been reset ?
The MKi9000 has an optional setting to disable phonebook sync when pairing a phone though this needs to be explicitly activated before pairing. Will need to dig though old data to see how it is setup.
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have just changed my phone to a Samsung A50. The new phone coincided with the remote control unit needing a new battery, so haven’t given that much thought. Any help would be gratefully received. I don’t make many calls when driving, but would feel happier knowing I can, if I needed to.
Please see this link to reset the Mki9000
After that pair the Samsung again
When connected, go to Bluetooth settings on the Samsung and press “cog” next to MKi9000.
Check that phonebook sync is activated
Also make sure contacts are in phone memory and not on SIM card
Thank you. Just before I go and do all this, I should mention that when I press the jog wheel it doesn’t cycle through any if the options, ipod, phone book etc. Is this all related?
Did you pair the replacement remote to the MKi9000 ?
Pairing procedure
Stupid question but is there a fuse to go with the Parrot? Is it possible the fuse has blown?
If you can pair your Samsung with the MKi9000 and it connects then the fuses are fine.
There are 2 fuses fitted to the MKI9000: One in permanent 12V and the other on the ignition 12V connections.
Have only ever changed 2 blown fuses on any Parrot kit – they just don’t blow (except for a good reason)
Hi,
I have a similar issue. On my iphone 7 (ios 13) i can force connection with my parrot mki9000, but it does not connect automatically when i start my car and every time that i use it i have to search bluettoth devices and force connection on my iphone. Parrot support advice me to forget bluetooth device, erase parrot memory, and update to v2.20 software my parrot, but the problem remains.
Any idea what can i do to solve this? I have understood that parrot is not involved in hands free development anymore, but this is a dissaster….
NOTE: Adroid runs ok, and i have tried with ipone 8,X,11 and i have the same problem, so….the proble is between apple-parrot compatibility for sure.
Thanks in advance,
fabián
Hello Fabian,
Have you tired resetting the network settings on the iPhone (as per article) ?
Have you reset the MKi9000 to erase all paired devices ?
It might also be worth deleting the current pairing and then before re-pairing turn off the auto phonebook sync by holding centre button and Red button down for 3 seconds. Phonebook sync de-activation will be confirmed vocally. Then pair the iPhone again.
If none of this works then it’s up to apple to address their software changes that have introduced the bug.
hi,
I have a MKI9200 with firmware 2.20 I can make and receive phone calls absolutely fine but as soon as i try to play a song from my phone (Android huawei p20) via Bluetooth it displays the song on the screen as if its playing but there is no sound whatsoever. I tried using the line in function also but also no sound.
Hello,
On the Mki9200 go to Settings / Audio and then down to “Mute on Streaming” and select this option so it is ticked (enabled).
This will resolve it unless you have a car with external amp and the Parrot has been connected to Aux input.
Regards
Philip
thanks philip i’ll give this a try, much appreciated
Thanks for the guide above, in IOS 12.4.1 the reset Network does not get rid of the Bluetooth settings. Cannot get my MIK9200 (V2.2) to stream Bluetooth audio. From my iPad (ios 9) works fine…
Hello,
In the Bluetooth connection settings on the iPhone do you have the option to enable / disable Music Streaming ?
This is a standard feature on Android units and may be present on the iphone. It may not be enabled for music streaming.
Alternatively, delete current pairing and then re-pair again – this may help.
If not then try a factory reset on the MKi and see if that helps
Hi, I have an mki9200, when I start my car it automatically starts playing from the connected usb, is there a way to stop this please. I’m running v2.20, any benefit from updating?
Morning Andrew,
This is one of the things that was always fed back to Parrot – it is normal behaviour and is working as expected.
You can get around it a bit by remembering to pause the music from the Parrot before turning off the ignition. This way the Parrot will remember not to play tracks after power up.
V2.20 is the last available version for version 1 & 2 control boxes – there are no later updates. Version 3 control boxes are electronically different.
Thank you for your prompt reply, I’ve emailed Parrot twice with no reply so your response is appreciated if not quite what I wanted to read :). I have tried this but it still plays, guess I’ll just have to live with it which is a shame as otherwise it’s a good unit.
The MKi must shut down with showing “Good Bye” message on screen.
If this is correct, then unfortunately it’ just a mode of operation that the design team chose.
We all moaned about it, but it was never changed
Hi, I have recently purchased a car with the Parrot 9200 kit and everything works apart from when I try to skip to next song when playing music either through my phone or my ipod. Volume works fine. Could you tell me what this problem could be ?
Hello,
Bit strange that the forward and back buttons do not work.
Have you tried a USB stick with a few tracks on it to see if this has the same issue ?
If it does it would then point to the remote control possibly being faulty.
A factory reset may also help
If the firmware is really old it would be worth updating it
Hi I have done a factory reset and same problem, Both from my Samsung phone and Ipod it won’t skip tracks, only the volume works. I have not tried with USB stick so will try with that first. How do I update the firmware on the Parrot ?
Many thanks
As you have done a factory reset I am leaning towards it being a problem with the remote control
When you push the buttons do you get a definite “click” ?
Update info for Mki9200:
https://www.justcarkits.co.uk/jck_blog/2018/12/05/parrot-mki9200-firmware-update-how-to/
Yes they give a clicking sound when pressed. I will have a go at the firmware update and hopefully this might solve the problem.
Think you will find that the remote is faulty.
New one can be purchased here:
MKi remote
I have the parrot mki9200 and it will not pair with my iphone x. i tried to pair it with my old iphone 4, which worked and paired but with no audio. I recently “lined in” and iphone 6 and that worked, but when i tried again it did not. how can i get my audio to work? doesn’t have to be bluetooth necessarily i just would like to listen to music from my phone.
Morning Hannah,
There are a couple of things that should be done first:
Reset MKi9200
Depending how old the firmware is on the MKi9200 you might find it useful to update it, since apple constantly muck up the Bluetooth with ios updates:
Update MKi9200
If the firmware is earlier than v1.96 you will need to update to this version first and then can go to later ones: V2.11 or V2.20 are both fine
The other thing to look at on the MKi9200 is to go into Settings / Audio / “Mute on Streaming” and make sure the option is ticked. This option is required if the MKi9200 directly drives the speakers. If you normally select Aux on the stereo to hear music from the Parrot leave the “mute on streaming” option un-ticked.
Hi there,
I would be very grateful if you could help me with a recent problem. I had purchased Parrot MKI9200 via eBay in December 2016 and have been using it for over 2 and half years. I am now not able to play music through the device. The phone calls are working fine but although the kit is connected by bluetooth to my phone the music doesn’t play. The display screen shows the music playing but I hear no sound. I have done a factory reset of the device and also reset my iPhone (7 plus running software version 12.3).
I have done all that has been recommended above but no luck. Tried to find an update on the Parrot site but couldn’t find any for version 3. Hoping that you can help solve this problem.
I drive a Mercedes s350 2005 model
Hello Askar,
On the Mki9200 it is possible to set it up to use the internal amplifier or for line out mode to use the car stereo amplifier.
Would suspect that the “mute on streaming” option has been de-selected.
To re-enable go into Settings / Audio / Mute on Streaming and tick the option ( using centre button on remote).
After that, stop the music and then start it again.
This should clear the problem.
You were absolutely right!! Thanks very much!
Also, please see this link about Mki9200 update:
Version 3
Thank you for your guide. I have tried it many times and unfortunately, it does not solve my iPhone connections issues with the MKi9200. The issue is that the connection between the iPhone and Parrot is dropped (seemingly at random), mostly during phone calls but also otherwise. I have this problem with updated iPhone 5, iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and iPhone X. Android is working fine on the same MKi9200.
My MKi9200 is currently more dangerous than handheld calling and has been a waste of money.
Parrot support simply refers to this guide and did not manage to help any further.
My last hope is that you might have an idea on how to solve this issue.
If the issue is present with updated iPhones 5,6,7 and X it would point to an apple firmware issue, especially as the Android phone is fine.
Did disabling phone contact sync have any effect with regards to the call dropout ?
Did any of the special pairing modes help at all ?
Ever since version 4, when apple do a firmware update there are always issues
My MKI9200 was having errors occurring so parrot told me to reset and then add the update. It’s now completely crashed with once screen in French. And I have no idea how to fix it… can you help? I actually followed the update guide and it trashed the parrot…..
Hello Philip,
Can you access the Parrot menus on your MKi9200 ?
If so, you can change language back to English by doing the following:
Press centre button on remote and then rotate to “Preferences”.
Press centre button and rotate to “Langue”, then select English (possibly anglais in the menu).
The MKi9200 will then re-boot and will be in English
If you can’t get into the menu on the MKi9200 try pairing the remote and check battery in the remote:
The screen is stuck on “erreur hardware”, I have tried every button and nothing is happening. I even unplugged the screen over night.
It’s almost like its stuck, with no options
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to recover from this error.
You would need Parrot to replace the control box
I just want to double check which one is the control box (ie is it the Screen or the Electronic Box)?
Thank you
it is the blue box and not the screen
Thanks for all of your help, I will see what comes back from Parrot. All I know now is I will never touch the update option again… cos it destroys the Parror not improve it 🙁
Have updated many of the Mki9200’s – it nearly always goes without a hitch, but there are ones that do not go smoothly and it can destroy the control box.
There is always that heart stopping moment when it shuts down, performs the update and then re-starts – sometimes it just doesn’t re-start and will then require a new control box.
I’m never touch update again 🙂 even if parrot tell me to, it just not worth the risk 🙂
Thanks for all your help
I’m having a strange problem with my MKI9200. Everything works fine however the screen stops working as soon as i connect my iphone through bluetooth. Everything still works fine with the bluetooth and I can use the spoken menu with the remote but the screen just freezes once bluetooth is connected. Any ideas?
Couple of things:
1. What version of software is in the MKi9200 ? (Settings \ Advanced \ Information )
2. Try a factory reset (Settings \ Advanced \ Factory Reset )
3. Try a different phone – still the same ?
Regards,
philip
The version on the parrot was 1.72 so quite out dated. I went ahead and updated to version 1.96 as per the parrot suport page. This was the only file available on their site. The bluetooth is now working perfectly with the screen, but now everything is in French ?. There were no other language files to download and it didn’t give me an option to select a language after updating. If I can find an english download of v2.20 can I update from french to that from v1.96? The support page has a link saying there are issues changing language, but the link is also in another language so I’ve no idea ? cheers
To set the Mki9200 to English from French:
Press centre button and rotate to “Preferences” then select “Langue” – Anglais / English
Press centre button to confirm.
The MKi9200 will re-boot to set language
Updating the firmware does not alter the language setting, though the Language menu is not always available in every firmware version.
2.20 update file is available HERE
Please note this link will be changing soon as we are getting ready to launch our new website
Hello, I have samsung galaxy a70, and mki9200 v2.20, i connected to mki9200, i can see contacts… but when i play song from my phone doesn’t play on the mki9200… after that i tried with iphone 7 and played song easily on the mki9200. I enabled all choices from my phone bluetooth settings..
So, What is the problem ?
Hello Mark,
Couple of things.
Can you plug a USB stick in with a couple of mp3 tracks on it and see if that plays ok.
If that works make sure that Bluetooth streaming is definitely enabled on the A70 Bluetooth settings. Also, make sure the volume is up as if it is at zero the Parrot has no audio to play.
If not then have a look in the Parrot settings:
Settings / Audio / “Mute on Streaming” and make sure the box is ticked.
Hi, I have a Pixel 3 android device and a Parrot MKi9200. Bluetooth works just fine however when I connect the usb cable it charges for about 2 seconds but then stops and I can’t play music over Usb.
Tried different cables from mobile to usb extension.
Morning David,
When plugging into the USB socket the Pixel 3 may give you a message asking whether you want to allow file transfer or charge only.
There are 2 distinct versions of the MKi9200: Version 1/2 and Version 3:
All version 1 & 2 control boxes have the USB connector, 30 pin Apple connector and Audio Jack
Version 3 has the USB connector and Audio Jack
Version 1 & 2 USB is limited to 500mA
Version 3 USB is limited to 1A
It is not possible to modify a version 1 or 2 control box as the hardware is different
This may be why your Pixel 3 does not charge.
For file transfer, I am not surprised that this does not work as have over the years found very few Android phones that support this feature.
If enabling the “file transfer” option on the Pixel does not work then it will not be possible.
Obviously, you can still stream music over Bluetooth to the MKi9200 from the Pixel 3.
Hi
I have a Mki9200 fitted in a w203 c class.
When connected I get every notificationsound the phone makes through the speakers e.g message beeps, email beeps WhatsApp etc not a big issue but can be annoying the music being muted every 2 minutes, is there any option to just have voice calls through the Bluetooth or what would you suggest?
Thanks in advance
Hello Richard,
The alert tones are sent by the phone and the Parrot is playing what it has been sent (as it’s supposed to do).
From your description I would guess you have an iPhone and this will push all alert tones via Bluetooth. Apple have never cured this “feature”, despite repeated requests.
To get around their inept programming, simply set the iPhone to silent when in the car and this will stop the alert tones being heard.
The stereo will still mute on phone calls and you’ll still be able to play music through the Parrot.
Just set up my parrot and as soon as I click on English for the language it just says good bye and shuts down the restarts. Any idea what could be wrong ?
Morning Jon,
Unfortunately, you have a faulty MKi9200 control box.
This will need to be replaced under warranty (if it still in the warranty period)
Hello, I have a problem where I put a usb drive, and select a song from the folders, however the car does not react and the song does not start as the Parrot is showing that the song is playing. I have a Parrot MKI9200 and audi a4 b7. Also I can make calls trough the speakers when conected with my phone, however when I try to put audio trough bluetooth, same issue. No sound, no nothing..
Hello Petar,
This would be normal on an A4 B7
How to use:
On the A4 B7 music from the Parrot should be routed through the AUX input on the Audi stereo (if fitted correctly)
AUX can be accessed in a couple of ways:
Push CD button twice to get “CDC”
OR
RNS-E Navigation unit – go into Media and then Aux input
Play some music form the Parrot (any source) and turn the Parrot volume to about 80 % and then set level through Audi headunit. Leave Parrot volume for music set to about 80%

philip
Hi Philip, my wife has a parrot mki9200 fitted in her Peugeot 208. She has lost the use the remote. We have tried all the reset options in the hand book, changed the battery, even bought a new remote, but we cannot get the remote to interact with the screen. The screen powers up fine, and works as normal when the phone is connected, it is just the loss of connection between the screen and remote. Any solutions?
Kind regards,
John
Morning John,
Have a look at this post:
How to pair a remote control on Parrot MKi Series
I got a Parrot MKi9100 and when i answer an incoming call – the phone disconnects! So i have to hold my phone in my hand while driving to phone! Thats illegal in Germany! Please help me!
Leider nur auf englisch…
As per the post please try the following:
I have a Parrot MKi9100 and the problem I have is that the screen is blank it won’t power up when I turn the ignition on it’s just a blank screen. I’ve tried new batteries in the remote but still nothing. Thanks
Hello Hannah,
From your description this would point to a power supply issue or a faulty MKi9100. To diagnose further you will need a multimeter.
With power applied measure the voltage on the Red permanent 12v wire and make sure it does not go off when you turn the ignition off.
Also check ground connection resistance = < 1 to 2 Ohms On an MKi9100 it is worth checking the fit of the display connector. If it's really loose and the display detaches very easily this could be where the problem is. The MKi9100 will not power up without a display being connected. There was a batch of MKi9100s with a tolerance problem on the dislay connector molding. It is easy enough to cure.
I have parrot mki9100,is stuck on language options,I have tried to reset it but won’t work,I have changed remote batteries too.any advice plz
Hello Ebi,
Would suspect that you have a control box failure.
You can try removing power from the control box for 10 mins or so to see if this will reset it.
If that does not work, a replacement would be required.

Hi
I am currently running in to a problem on my Parrot MKi9200. Everything functions as it should, calls work loud and clear. I am also able to play music via Bluetooth, but when I try to increase the volume past a medium setting the audio cuts out and comes back in stutters. At low volume there is no problem but then the music is barely audible. The same problem happens when I connect via USB or AUX.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Herman
Hello Herman,

With power applied measure the voltage on the Red permanent 12v wire and make sure it does not go off when you turn the ignition off. If this is ok measure the voltage when playing music atlow level and then increase volume. If the voltage is between 12 and 14.5 this is normal and would point to a control box issue.

Hi
Had a Parrot Mki9200 for years never any issues with any of my iphones always has worked. Currently running Firmware 2.20
Last week my iphone7 went to be swapped due to a fault and since then the new one won’t pair with the Parrot correctly. It will say Telephone connected on the Parrot screen, on the iPhone it will look like it has paired but if I look on the Parrot it won’t show as a paired device and will only be able to be used for phone calls not media.
My wifes iPhone X works fine on my parrot. I’ve tried my work Samsung phone worked ok, as well as two of my friends iPhones also and all connects and pairs fine for phone calls, bluetooth audio and shows as a paired device. My old iPhone 7 same iOS worked fine also.. I’ve tried my phone on another Parrot MKi9200 and that worked ok too and I can connect just fine which makes things stranger.
So I did a factory reset on the Parrot and my iPhone and still the same issue exists. Tried every troubleshooting guide I can find but can’t find the answer. Any idea?
Thanks Dave
Morning Dave,
Have had this a couple of times before with limited success in resolving it.
Please try the following:
Remove all paired devices from the MKi9200 ( Settings \ Bluetooth \ Phone (x) \ Press centre button, scroll to delete and then press Green button to confirm ). Do this for all paired devices.
Turn the iPhone off and then back on again.
Before pairing again, on the MKi9200 go into Settings \ Bluetooth \ Pair with… and Select “Force Sync AT” mode.
Now pair your phone.
If that does not do the trick, it would point to an issue with the replacement iPhone 7.
Apple use different chipsets within the iPhone and some of them have Bluetooth compatibility issues.
Have had this a couple of times with the iPhone 6S and there was no solution apart from changing the phone or replacing the MKi9200 with the Bury CC9068.
Thanks Philip, after another 10 hours troubleshooting and moaning at Apple they replaced my iphone 7 again and that worked fine
Glad it’s sorted.
Thought it would be the iPhone – Seems to be a problem with different chip sets used in the iPhone and compatibility issues.
Hi Philip
Got a Strange issue, where my new iPhone 7 doesn’t seem to pair correctly with the Parrot MKi9200, firmware 2.20. I’ve even done a factory reset on both devices and it does the same which is:
When I connect it says paired all ok but it doesn’t seem to fully connect and will say Telephone connected on the Parrot but it won’t work for Bluetooth audio and the phone isn’t listed in paired devices. If I try and play music to the Parrot it looks like it is trying to do so but won’t connect. However I can make calls and the sound comes though the speakers ok.
I’ve tried the same iphone 7 in another car with the same Parrot and is fine I can connect OK to that it asked me the code to pair and then was straight in.
My wifes phone (iphone x), my mums, my dad both iPhone7 + work with my parrot all ok and, my work Samsung phone works all ok too as well as my old iPhone 7 which i got replaced last week. Very frustrating
Please see previous reply to other post
The problem I have is that the screen is blank it won’t power up even to home page I’ve just bought a new remote and battery still nothing any idea how to fix it plz
Hello Chris,
Do you know which Parrot model you have ?
The remote control does not stop the handsfree kit turning on, so it will be a different issue
Please advise
