Is Your Parrot CK3100 Installed Correctly ?
When your Parrot CK3100 shuts down does it show “Good Bye” and does it matter ?
When a Parrot CK3100 handsfree car kit turns off it must show “Good Bye”. This indicates that the handsfree car kits is shutting down and has been installed correctly. During the shutdown phase, the CK3100 performs important housekeeping tasks. After these are complete the CK3100 display will go blank and the unit will shutdown.
My CK3100 turns off instantly when I turn off the ignition – does this matter ? and what to do about it…
Yes, it is vital that the Parrot CK3100 shuts down correctly.
If your CK3100 goes off instantly when the ignition is turned off and does not display the “Good Bye” message it is installed incorrectly. When the Parrot is installed there are 2 power connections – a permanent 12V connection and an ignition switched 12V connection. If these are reversed this will cause the installation problem and will eventually result in you not being able to pair a phone with the CK3100.
How to cure the installation fault
This is quite easy to resolve. Using a multimeter check the Red wire on the 4 pin power plug that goes into the Parrot control box. This must have a permanent 12V supply. If the voltage disappears when you turn off the ignition then you will need to resolve this problem.
All Parrot handsfree kit power lead sets have 2 in-line fuseholders – one in the Red wire (permanent 12V), the other in the Orange wire (ignition switched 12V).
As most handsfree car kits are installed using a SOT lead (to convert car specific harnesses back to ISO connectors) it is very common that the power connection is not on the correct pin for the Parrot CK3100. There is no agreement between manufacturers as to which pin should be the permanent 12V connection.
The quickest way to resolve this is to simply measure the voltage on the 4 pin power connector. If the Red wire does not have permanent 12V on it simply undo the tops of the 2 fuseholders and swop the orange one to the red one and vice versa. Re-check the Red wire on the CK3100 control box for a permanent 12V.
If all is OK, turn on the ignition and wait for the CK3100 to turn on. Pair your phone with the Parrot. Wait for the phonebook to synchronise, then turn the CK3100 off. You will then see the “Good Bye” message and this indicates that the fault has been rectified.
If you do not pair a phone with the CK3100 the “Good Bye” message will only very briefly appear when you turn the ignition off – this is fine.

After a period of weeks in which my car wasn’t run, the CK3100 ceased to function; what could be causing this?
Hello Michael,
Did you jumpstart the car ? Sometimes this will erase the CK3100 programme memory – just needs to be re-flashed.
Alternatively, could be a power issue. Check power on CK3100 control box. Red = Permanent 12V, Orange = Ignition switched 12V, Black + Ground.
Regards,
Philip
can anyone saw what correct fuse on the orange line should be? I measure less than half a amp in boot up but then it blows a 1 amp fuse the next time I turn it on.
Morning Tom,
The ignition feed on the CK3100 takes <10mA.
Would suspect that you have the ignition and power feeds round the wrong way.
Use a multimeter and check at the control box power plug that Red wire has permanent 12V and the orange wire is switched 12V (with ignition).
As standard both fuses a 5A slow blow 20mm so that the power feeds can be reversed by swopping tops of fuseholders.
Hello,
I have Parrot CK3100 in my car, but I never use it, even though it works. It’s connected to speakers, and also has mic connected.
I was wondering if it’s possible to cut the wire which goes into parrot, rewire it to USB C for example and than buy mp3 device which I will connect to type C and use it to play music?
Hello Nikola,
The CK3100 is only a hands free kit. You cannot play music through it.
There is no USB port.
Regards
Philip
This is great advice and works perfectly.
Thank you for your help.
My parrot seems to turn off ok, it doesnt seem to want to turn on though… sometimes it comes on instantly, sometimes it can take 10-15 mins and then itll randomly turn on… is there something done wrong? the only thing i can think with this is the start stop on the car only works after a certain amount of running time (more than likely when the alternator kicks in?) just a bit frustrating!!!!
Hello Stuart,
This is one for the multimeter.
At the control box check Red is permanent 12V and that the Orange has 12V when the ignition is on. If this is missing start engine and see if Ignition 12V is present (some installer use an ignition generator.
My parrots isn’t switching off & is draining my battery flat….. Help
Morning Lisa,
If the CK3100 won’t switch off it will need to be reset by removing the power lead. If this is not accessible you could also remove the stereo fuse (depending on vehicle) for 30 secs. Some vehicle stereos are security coded and will require activation by entering the code – check first – depends on vehicle make / model / year

Hello Bob,
Software version of the CK3100 ?
Try resetting the CK3100How to reset a Parrot CK3100 handsfree car kit
How do you update firmware/
On the CK3100 we plug a programming cable into it and upload the new firmware.
Hi my parrot ck3100 keeps displaying the word goodbye and wouldn’t do anything else plus it stays lit up even when I remove key. This only started happening today thanks
Morning Brian,
This can be caused by a couple of things:
1. Firmware lock-up – try disconnecting power from control box and then re-connecting. It may then not re-start and may require a firmware update.
2. B+ on ignition wire must be <0.5V with the ignition off. If the voltage is about 0.6 to 0.8V the control box will not shut down correctly. Add a 5 or 6V zener or possibly just a couple of IN4001's to ignition feed.
