I Have a Nokia fitted car kit CARK91 for the 6210 / 6310 series and have changed my phone for a newer Nokia that does not have the same connections.

The Nokia car kit CARK91 is not compatible with the newer Nokia phones that have the Pop-Port interface and would need to be replaced. The only parts that are the same are the microphone and loudspeaker. An adaptor for the power connections can be used (NOK01ADP) that converts from the old style 6 pin Nokia connections to the new 4 pin type, so that the power lead need not be changed.

Which phones are compatible with the Nokia 610 handsfree car kit ?

The Nokia 610 handsfree car kit has a feature known as SIM Access Profile (SAP), which automatically downloads contact information from the Bluetooth phone that it is paired to. This means that, although the Nokia 610 is a Bluetooth handsfree kit, there are a limited number of phones that support the feature, meaning that the Nokia 610 is only compatible with the following Nokia phones: 6230, 6810,  6820, 7280 & 9300.

Does the Nokia 7610 work in Pop-Port car kit ?

Although the Nokia 7610 has a Pop-Port connector it is not compatible with either the CK7W or CARK126 handsfree car kits. Nokia have not launched a phone holder for the 7610 - could this be the reason ? So, if you want to use the 7610 in the car the only option is a Bluetooth connection - why have a Pop-Port connector if you can’t use it ?.

Does the holder for the 6600 also charge the battery ?

The Nokia 6600 holder holds the phone securely when in the car, but does not charge the battery. However, a car charging lead (LCH9 or LCH12) can be inserted when the 6600 is in the holder.

My Handspring Treo won’t work in the car kit.

The Handspring Treo 600 could require an update to function correctly in the fitted THB handsfree car kit. Typically, the Treo 600 will charge and the person you are calling can hear you, but you cannot hear them. Check software version on the Treo - if it is earlier than 1.12 an update is required. Later Treo’s already have the update.Visit www.palmone.com to obtain the update. It will also be necessary to enable the “Portable Keypad” option on the Treo and then disable it - even though you probably don’t want to use this feature !

The reception on my Nokia 610 is very poor.

As the Nokia 610 is a carphone in it’s own right (can have it’s own SIM) or it can be paired with 2 compatible SIM Access Profile phones. The paired phone is not used to make or receive phone calls (unlike other Bluetooth handsfree car kits) and is just used to download phone and contact information. The Nokia 610 must have a dual band GSM antenna connected to the FME antenna socket on the control box for the unit to make and receive phone calls.

Is there a holder for the Nokia 7610 ?

We now have a pattern phone holder suitable for the 6670 & 7610. It is available in 2 versions: Holder only and Holder with charging socket built in.

Is there a holder for the Nokia 7600 ?

Currently there is no phone holder for the car for this model. It is also not possible to use the Pop-Port interface to connect to handsfree car kits CARK126 & CK7W - Bluetooth only on the CK7W.
